Position
Contract External – 0.7 Kindergarten (70% time, 3.5 days per week).
Eligibility & RequirementsApplicants must meet Ontario legislation and board policies:
- Self‑identify with one of the four equity‑deserving groups under the federal Employment Equity Act or the provincial Ontario Human Rights Code.
- Have at least five (5) years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board.
- Article 9.02:
Newly hired teachers teaching French or NSL may not apply to postings for other languages for the portion of their contract that remains in French or NSL for at least five (5) years from the date of hire. They may apply for other positions to increase FTE while staying in a French or NSL role as outlined. - Other prescribed duties and obligations are detailed below.
- Responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of the progress of pupils in assigned subjects, and for managing the class or classes.
- Carry out supervisory duties and the instructional program assigned by the principal; provide relevant information as required.
- Co‑operate fully with colleagues and the principal in all matters related to instruction.
- Be present in the classroom at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and, where applicable, five minutes before afternoon classes.
- Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.
- Prepare teaching plans and outlines as required and submit them to the principal or appropriate supervisory officer.
- Ensure all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities.
- Co‑operate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
- Ensure report cards are fully and properly completed and processed in accordance with provincial guidelines.
- Co‑operate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996.
- Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
- Perform duties assigned by the principal regarding cooperative placements of pupils.
- Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
