Eligibility
Whether the candidate self-identifies with one of the four equity‑deserving groups designated under the federal Employment Equity Act, and may also self-identify with an equity‑deserving group on one or more protected grounds under the provincial Ontario Human Rights Code.
Whether the candidate has five or more years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board that can be confirmed through their resume and application.
Article 9.02 (vii) (a)
A newly hired Teacher who accepts a position teaching French or NSL may not apply to a posting for anything other than French or NSL for the portion of their contract that is French or NSL for at least five (5) years from the date of hire.
Article 9.02 (vii) (b)
These teachers may apply for positions other than French or NSL to increase their FTE while remaining in a French or NSL position as outlined above.
Duties of the Teacher (R.R.O. 1990, Section 20)
(a) Be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of the progress of pupils in the subjects assigned, manage the class(es), and report on progress to the principal on request.
(b) Carry out supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal and provide required information.
(c) Where the board has appointed teachers under section 14 or 17, cooperate fully with such teachers and with the principal in matters related to the instruction of pupils.
(d) Unless otherwise assigned, be present in the classroom or teaching area and ensure it is ready for pupils at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes.
(e) Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.
(f) Prepare teaching plans and outlines required by the principal and supervisory officer, and submit them upon request.
(g) Ensure that all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
(h) Cooperate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
(i) Ensure that report cards are fully and properly completed and processed in accordance with the provincial guidelines.
(j) Cooperate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act.
(k) Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
(l) Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to cooperative placements of pupils.
(m) Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
