Contract External – 0.7 (0.4 SERT, 0.3 PLANNING TIME) – SPEC ED QUALS
This is a contract external teaching position with the Simcoe County District School Board.

Eligibility

Newly hired teachers accepting a French or Non‑Signed Language (NSL) position may only teach French/NSL for at least five (5) years from the date of hire.

Applicants must have five or more years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board.

Responsibilities

In addition to the duties assigned by the Act and the board, a teacher shall be responsible for effective instruction, training, and evaluation of the progress of pupils in the subjects assigned, and for management of the class or classes, reporting to the principal on the progress of pupils on request.

Carry out the supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal, supplying required information.

Co‑operate with teachers and the principal in all matters related to instruction of pupils.

Be present in the classroom or teaching area and ensure it is ready at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes (unless otherwise assigned).

Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.

Prepare teaching plans and outlines required by the principal and submit them on request.

Ensure all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities.

Co‑operate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.

Ensure report cards are fully and properly completed and processed according to the Guidance for Provincial Report Cards.

Co‑operate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act.

Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.

Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to co‑operative placements of pupils.

Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
