Eligibility andApplication Requirements
- Self‑identify with one of the four equity‑deserving groups designated under the federal (or may self‑identify with an equity‑deserving group on one or more protected grounds under the provincial).
- Have 5 or more years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board that can be confirmed through your résumé and application.
- Provide permission to contact two professional references, including your current and most recent supervisor.
- Submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) satisfactory to the Board before employment begins.
- Complete mandatory training modules prior to your first day of employment.

- In addition to duties assigned by the Act and the board, a teacher shall:
- Be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of the progress of pupils in the subjects assigned, manage the class(es), and report to the principal on the progress of pupils on request.
- Carry out supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal and supply information related thereto as required.
- Co‑operate fully with teachers appointed under section 14 or 17 and with the principal in all matters related to the instruction of pupils.
- Be present in the classroom or teaching area and ensure the area is ready for pupils at least fifteen minutes before classes in the morning and, where applicable, five minutes before afternoon classes.
- Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.
- Prepare teaching plans and outlines required by the principal and supervisory officer and submit them on request.
- Ensure all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
- Co‑operate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
- Ensure that report cards are fully and properly completed and processed in accordance with the provincial guidelines in English and French.
- Co‑operate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996.
- Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
- Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to cooperative placements of pupils.
- Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
The SCDSB recognizes the duty to accommodate, short of undue hardship, as per the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
