Responsibilities- Be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of the progress of pupils in the subjects assigned to the teacher and manage the class or classes, reporting to the principal on the progress of pupils on request.
- Carry out supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal and supply related information as required.
- Cooperate fully with other teachers and the principal in all matters related to pupil instruction.
- Be present in the classroom or teaching area and ensure readiness at least fifteen minutes before classes in the morning, and five minutes before afternoon classes, unless otherwise assigned.
- Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.
- Prepare classroom teaching plans and outlines as required, and submit them on request.
- Ensure that all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
- Cooperate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
- Ensure that report cards are fully and properly completed in accordance with provincial guidelines, in both English and French.
- Cooperate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act.
- Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
- Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to cooperative placements of pupils.
- Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
A newly hired Teacher who accepts a position teaching French or NSL must maintain their initial hiring FTE for five years.
