Position Summary
Contract External – 0.6 PLANNING TIME (FI/ENGLISH) FSL NOT REQUIRED, P/J/I

Applicants are required to provide permission to contact two professional references, including their current and most recent supervisor. New hires will be required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) satisfactorily before employment begins and to complete mandatory training modules before their first day. All application fees are covered by the SCDSB.
- Effectively instruct, train and evaluate pupils in the subjects assigned.
- Manage one or more classes and report on pupil progress to the principal.
- Carry out supervisory duties and instructional programme assigned by the principal.
- Cooperate with other teachers and the principal in all matters related to pupil instruction.
- Remain present in the teaching area at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes, unless otherwise assigned by the principal.
- Assist the principal in maintaining close co‑operation with the community.
- Prepare teaching plans and outlines as required by the principal or supervisory officer and submit them on request.
- Ensure that all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
- Cooperate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
- Ensure that report cards are fully and properly completed and processed in accordance with the provincial guidebooks.
- Cooperate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996.
- Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
- Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to cooperative placements of pupils.
- Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
- At least five (5) years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board, verifiable through resume and application.
- Knowledge of French or National Sign Language (NSL) is preferred for those teaching in those languages; however, the role is open to teachers of any subject within the 0.6 time allocation.
