Qualifications

5 or more years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board, confirmed through resume and application.
Self‑identify with one of the four equity‑deserving groups designated under the federal Employment Equity Act or any protected grounds under the provincial Ontario Human Rights Code.

Time Commitment

1.0 = 100% time or 5.0 days per week;
0.9 = 90% time or 4.5 days per week;
0.8 = 80% time or 4.0 days per week;
0.7 = 70% time or 3.5 days per week;
0.6 = 60% time or 3.0 days per week;
0.5 = 50% time or 2.5 days per week;
0.4 = 40% time or 2.0 days per week;
0.3 = 30% time or 1.5 days per week;
0.2 = 20% time or 1.0 day per week;
0.1 = 10% time or 0.5 days per week.

Duties

Be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of pupils; manage the class; report to the principal on progress.

Carry out the supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal; supply required information.

Co‑operate fully with teachers appointed under section 14 or 17 and with the principal in instruction matters.

Be present in the classroom or teaching area at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes unless otherwise assigned.

Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.

Prepare teaching plans and outlines as required, and submit them to the principal or appropriate supervisory officer upon request.

Ensure that all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.

Co‑operate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.

Ensure that report cards are fully and properly completed and processed according to Provincial Report Card guidelines in English and French.

Co‑operate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996.

Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.

Perform duties assigned by the principal related to cooperative placements of pupils.

Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
