Qualifications &

Application Requirements
Applicants must have five or more years of permanent contract teaching experience with another board. Candidates will be required to provide permission to contact two professional references, including current and most recent supervisor. New hires will be required to submit a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and complete mandatory training modules before commencing employment.

Duties (Section 20, R.R.O. 1990)

Be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of pupils in subjects assigned and manage class(es); report to principal on request.

Carry out supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal and provide information as required.

Co‑operate with teachers appointed under section 14 or 17 and with the principal in instructional matters.

Unless otherwise assigned, be present in the classroom or teaching area and ensure readiness at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes.

Assist the principal in maintaining cooperation with the community.

Prepare teaching plans and outlines required by the principal and supervisory officer; submit on request.

Ensure reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities.

Co‑operate with the principal and other teachers to establish consistent disciplinary practices.

Ensure report cards are fully and properly completed in accordance with the provincial guidelines.

Co‑operate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act, 1996.

Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.

Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to co‑operative placements of pupils.

Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
