Full-Time Permanent. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, 35 hours weekly, aligning with school year, plus overtime as required. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.

Annual Compensation:
10 Month Grid Level 4 $ 53,261 - $65,391 commensurate with education, skills and experience.

The Child and Youth Care Worker (CYCW) is a member of the Clinical Services Team, working under the direction of the Mental Health Lead to support student social and emotional well-being. This role focuses on implementing universal and targeted strategies that enhance well-being and support learning within classrooms and school environments.

Responsibilities include supporting social-emotional classroom learning, facilitating referral-based small groups to develop emotional regulation skills (e.g., Unstuck and On Target, Kids Have Stress Too, Circles Program), and providing one-on-one coaching to build behaviour regulation strategies. The CYCW also contributes to staff capacity building and collaborates with school teams to develop Safety Plans in alignment with Behaviour Management Systems Training practices.

Other activities may include: providing information sessions for families and caregivers, supporting student voice projects and tragic event responses.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experiences to the role:

Child and Youth Care Diploma or undergraduate degree in a related field

3 years experience in Child and Youth Care

Experience facilitating small groups with children and youth

Background in implementation of mental health and behavioural support services to children and youth in a multi-disciplinary setting

Demonstrated understanding of Emotional Validation, Regulation Strategies and Descalation strategies

Certificate in Behaviour Management Systems (BMS), BMS Trainer Training is an asset

Understanding of relevant legislation and standards, including Regulated Health Professionals Act (RHPA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPPA), Health Care Consent Act (HCCA), Child, Youth and Family Services (CYFSA), Education Act and Safe Schools Act

Strong capability to identify issues and develop evidence-based interventions

Proven experience working in multidisciplinary teams

Competent in managing multiple cases and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines, and ability to respond flexibly to changing student needs and dynamic school environments.
