FTE Temporary Designated Early Childhood Educator

Reporting to the Principal, the Designated Early Childhood Educator will partner with the Catholic classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program supporting faith initiatives within a Catholic classroom setting and provide supervision and age appropriate Catholic programming for groups of students. This is a 10 month per year position, working 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm.

• A two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma and proof of registration and good standing with The College of Early Childhood Educators (photocopy of registration certificate required)
• Minimum of six months childcare experience in a childcare or educational setting
• Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (photocopy of certificates required)

• Knowledge of Ministry of Education full day early learning program and related legislation
• Knowledge of SMCDSB related polices and procedures
• Proven ability, experience and skill in working as a member of a team
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public
• Understanding of commitment to confidentiality
• Proven ability to deal with classroom management, stressful and emergency situations
• Demonstrated experience in successfully designing, planning and implementing age appropriate Catholic programs
• Basic computer skills, strong organization and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for program, and must be able to physically assist children as required and repetitive bending
