Location: Midhurst
Enhance Indigenous education as an Itinerant Indigenous Cultural and Instructional Facilitator with Simcoe County District School Board. This temporary role focuses on promoting intercultural understanding and curriculum development.
The Simcoe County District School Board seeks a qualified teacher for a one-year secondment beginning September 2026. The successful applicant will actively engage in curriculum creation while collaborating with educators to implement Indigenous ways of learning. A commitment to embedding cultural practices and building community relationships is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Foster intercultural understanding among staff and students
• Support inclusive environments for First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students
• Build relationships between families and schools
• Collaborate on FNMI initiatives to support student achievement
• Participate in professional development and school meetings
Requirements:
• Lived experience of First Nations, Métis, or Inuit ancestry
• Ontario Teacher’s Certificate of Qualification
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultural areas and issues
• Strong communication skills for community engagement
• Ability to work collaboratively in diverse environments
Drive positive impacts in education through meaningful cultural integration and support for Indigenous students.
