Junior Geotechnical Engineering New Grad
Barrie, ON
You will be part of a collaborative geotechnical and infrastructure team, working closely with engineers, project managers, and field staff. This role offers exposure to construction sites, materials testing, and engineering problem‑solving in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Responsibilities- Perform field investigations and support geotechnical assessments for infrastructure and construction projects.
- Conduct subgrade evaluations for roads, buildings, and related infrastructure.
- Carry out field testing, including soil compaction testing using nuclear density gauges.
- Carry out field testing, including concrete testing (slump, air content, temperature, and cylinder preparation).
- Ensure all testing procedures comply with applicable standards (CCIL, CSA, ASTM, and project specifications).
- Record and document field data, test results, and observations accurately and consistently.
- Communicate site conditions and test results to engineers and project teams.
- Support engineers in interpreting field data and preparing technical documentation and reports.
- Assist with review of construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical recommendations.
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper handling and calibration.
- Follow all health and safety protocols on-site and contribute to a safety‑first work culture.
- Support coordination between field and office teams to meet project timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Eligibility for EIT registration (or actively pursuing).
- Strong interest in geotechnical engineering and field‑based work.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and basic geotechnical concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized testing procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000 per year. Compensation is based on skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
