We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer that can be based in either our Halton, Toronto, or Barrie offices. The successful applicant will work with the transportation and electrical groups to prepare designs for traffic signals, roadway lighting and associated civil works. This position will require technical knowledge of traffic signals and roadway lighting for transportation infrastructure design and construction components for existing and new projects primarily throughout Ontario.

Duties
  • Build and manage strong internal and external client relationships, including supporting business development activities and proposal preparation.
  • Lead and coordinate electrical design and specification development with clients and multi-disciplinary teams (engineers, architects, designers, and project managers).
  • Provide engineering and design services for electrical systems on small to large-scale transportation projects, including roadway lighting, traffic signals, and joint utility trench systems.
  • Review and guide the preparation of schematic and detailed design drawings, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Provide technical and administrative leadership throughout all project phases, from proposal through to construction.
  • Conduct lighting analysis using AGi
    32 and support the preparation of contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of post‑construction record drawings and oversee shop drawing review processes.
  • Conduct periodic field visits to assess existing conditions, identify conflicts, and support construction, commissioning, and site inspections.
  • Mentor and support the development of design staff.
  • Contribute to the overall growth and success of the Transportation – Electrical group.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering with a focus on roadway lighting and traffic signal design.
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant design experience, preferably within a consulting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (e.g., TAC, ESA, IMSA, AODA, RP-8, Ontario Traffic Manuals, OPSS, Highway Traffic Act, PHM-125 Legal Plans).
  • Proficiency in AGi
    32 and AutoCAD; experience with Micro Station, Auto Turn, and SPIDAcalc is considered an asset.
  • Experience with utility coordination and conflict assessment.
  • Ability to calculate tender quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Experience in the preparation of pavement marking and roadway signage plans.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.
