Position: Senior Hydrogeologist (26058)

Our presence in Ontario is expanding,and we are searching for various roles throughout the GTA, including a Senior Hydrogeologist in our Barrie office. You will be joining a dedicated and collaborative team of Engineers and Scientists focused on Geotechnical, Hydrogeological, Environmental, and Materials related projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide field and technical support to a wide variety of hydrogeology and environmental projects, including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data analysis, and technical report writing and proposal preparation;
  • Data compilation and interpretation, including water quality results, hydraulic response testing data analysis, water balance assessments, water take/dewatering estimation, impact assessment analysis, and water supply;
  • Interpretation and application of provincial and federal acts and regulations.
  • Lead and oversee the completion of Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments, Records of Site Condition and Excess Soil Management Plans. Including preparation and review of proposals and cost estimates, preparation of sampling and analysis plans, report preparation and invoicing;
  • Undertake senior quality assurance reviews of Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments and Excess Soil Management Plans;
  • Lead and contribute to the preparation of multi-discipline proposals and standing offer submissions;
  • Contribute to business development efforts and pursuits in the landfill and mining sectors;
  • Participate in short-term/long-term planning pertaining to budget requirements, staff requirements/ selection and projects to be undertaken;
  • Ensure projects meet the requirements of industry standards and regulations and work within established company/industry policies and procedures;
  • Assist project managers to ensure that budgets are met while identifying changes in agreed upon scopes of work that may impact agreed upon fees and time frames;
  • Monitor and ensure that team chargeability meet budgeted expectations and implement strategies to make improvements when needed;
  • Recommend changes or opportunities to improve operating costs and identify deviations from planned activities;
  • Participate in Performance reviews of group members with Barrie Branch Manager (to be phased in) and help develop team through internal and external learning and development opportunities;
  • Participate as needed in the review of project invoicing generated by the Hydrogeological/Contaminated Sites Group to ensure correctness and that budgets are being maintained;
  • Plan, facilitate, and conduct meetings, presentations, and interviews with internal and external stakeholders as needed;
  • Work with diverse teams across GEMTEC of various disciplines;
  • Develop and execute a cross training plan for the group;
  • Encourage continued professional growth within the group and increase the general knowledge base throughout the company;
  • Maintain a safe operating environment;
  • Other duties as assigned; and
  • Adhering to all company policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science, Geological Engineering or similar with a demonstrated emphasis in physical hydrogeology and geo-environmental studies.
  • Registration with Professional Geoscientists Ontario or Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in consulting.
