As a Senior Commercial Analyst:

You will be responsible for assisting our Commercial Relationship Management team through direct Member contact. You will be a part of our team to grow the size and profitability of the commercial book while minimizing loan risk and maximizing product penetration. What you will do:

  • Support our Relationship Managers, Directors, and Director & Team Leads through analysis of financial and account operating data and recommending appropriate courses of action for credit related matters.
  • Understand Member needs after discussions with the Relationship Manager and being capable of independently writing a lending proposal detailing both the financial and non-financial parameters important to decision making.
  • Manage many of the routine account operating issues encountered by our Commercial Members, anticipating/recognizing Members’ needs, and proactively making product and service recommendations.
  • Liaising with other Meridian staff and outside product/service suppliers to meet the needs of our Members.
  • Establishing personal goals and action plans to support the Business Banking Centre objectives, with some community involvement required.
  • Demonstrating an ongoing willingness to assume higher degrees of accountability and responsibility, leading to assumption of a position as a Relationship Manager in the future.
  • Actively monitor and manage the profitability of Meridian’s relationship Members in order to retain and maintain business.
  • Keep abreast of changes within diverse industry sectors and proactively identify opportunities to improve the growth and development of the assigned portfolio by analyzing Member needs, trends, and competitor offerings.

How you will succeed:

  • Post-secondary education or related job training, with detailed knowledge of financial accounting and lending principles (Bachelor of Commerce, Business, Finance & Accounting, or other similar degrees would be an asset).
  • 2+ years of experience in credit analysis as a Commercial Analyst, Credit Analyst or similar.
  • Good working knowledge of banking systems and business account operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication/presentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with confidence and strong commitment to member service.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, and train both on/off the job to improve general business and lending skills.
  • Strong personal commitment to professional development.
  • Demonstrates a high capacity for increasingly complex workloads.
  • Demonstrates organizational values through leadership and personal behaviors.

Salary Range: CAD $70,000 – $78,000 annually

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more…
