The City of Barrie is hiring a Plans Examiner I, responsible for reviewing permit applications and ensuring adherence to building regulations. You will process permits, conduct site inspections, and respond to inquiries about construction plans.
Your role is crucial in maintaining safety and compliance for residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Examine and review permit applications for compliance
• Process and issue construction-related permits
• Provide guidance on building codes and municipal by-laws
• Consult with stakeholders on construction examinations
• Conduct inspections and respond to building inquiries
Requirements:
• Three-year college diploma in a related field
• Minimum three years of experience in building examinations
• Valid Building Code Identification Number (BCIN)
• Registered Building Official with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs
• Strong analytical and communication skills
