Protect Barrie communities through municipal by-law enforcement, investigations, and public communication under the guidance of Enforcement Services. This position requires analytical judgment and mediation skills.
The City of Barrie seeks a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer I for varied enforcement disciplines. You will address animal control, signs, lottery licensing, yard maintenance, and business licensing. The work supports compliance through education, negotiation, mediation, investigation, evidence collection, and court documentation.
Key Responsibilities:- Enforce municipal by-laws and applicable provincial statutes
- Investigate complaints and collect witness statements
- Educate, negotiate, and mediate to seek compliance
- Lay charges when compliance is not forthcoming
- Prepare documentation supporting prosecution through court processes
- Two-year college diploma in law enforcement or related discipline
- MLEO Certification and ongoing association membership
- Two years performing related enforcement responsibilities
- Ontario Class G licence, good record, and reliable vehicle
- PAL, firearms training, and Foundations Training
