Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - School Nurse

OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Nurse to join our Team.
Responsibilities- Support children and young people to fulfil their potential and improve their health outcomes.
- Work alongside families through 10 priority pathways in a range of community settings.
- Provide support for children on the child protection register, care‑experienced young people and those with mental health and wellbeing concerns.
- Risk manage and implement supports autonomously, working within the National Practice Model Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC).
- Collaborate closely with education, social work, health and police teams.
- Accountable for caseload management and leadership, supporting the Transformation of School Nursing and providing supervision and learning to current and future Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN)/School Nursing Students.
- Current Registered Nurse (UK NMC).
- Postgraduate Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Qualification in School Nursing, Health Visiting or Community Nursing.
- Working knowledge of child protection systems.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of IT systems.
- Personable, high emotional intelligence, able to conduct oneself professionally in high‑pressure situations with challenging complex cases.
- Ability to travel across NHS Tayside.
Base of work:
Various School Nursing bases across NHS Tayside within Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross. This post is for Angus; base can be discussed at interview.
Hours of work: core hours 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, 37 hours/week.
