Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site, and together we provide outstanding, integrated care to support people in living their healthiest lives.

The Hospital Supervisor provides after-hours leadership and operational oversight, coordinating hospital-wide services, patient flow, staffing, resource utilization, and quality initiatives to ensure safe, efficient care across both hospital sites. Working collaboratively with clinical teams, leaders, and the Administrator On-Call, the Hospital Supervisor supports staff, leads operational decision-making, manages escalations and emergencies, and fosters a culture of patient- and family-centred care aligned with MAHC's Mission, Vision, and Values.

ROLE
Provide clinical and operational leadership to support safe, high-quality patient care across hospital sites
Coordinate patient flow, bed utilization, admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize capacity and access to care
Supervise staff during assigned shifts, providing guidance, support, and timely decision-making
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and hospital departments to ensure effective care delivery and resource utilization
Monitor staffing levels, patient acuity, and nurse-to-patient ratios, making adjustments as operational needs change
Promote a culture of patient safety by supporting quality improvement, infection prevention and control, and regulatory compliance
Respond to patient, family, and staff concerns, facilitating timely resolution and escalating issues as appropriate
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, professional standards, collective agreements, and applicable legislation
Investigate and follow up on incidents, adverse events, and workplace health and safety concerns
Support hospital operations through effective communication, handover reporting, and continuous improvement of patient care processes

Qualifications
Baccalaureate level preparation preferred in a healthcare related field
3 years current progressive experience in related clinical setting
Certified leadership courses an asset
Previous management experience an asset
Excellent computer skills having worked with Microsoft Office, Word, Teams, and Excel
Awareness of community supports and services for identified populations would be an asset

Additional Information

Location:

Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting.
* Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Hours of Work:  Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.

Conditions of employment for external hires includes;
Proof of immunization and vaccination records to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department

Satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check
