This role offers hands-on experience in a professional laboratory setting.
As a Pathologist Assistant under the supervision of the Chief Pathologist, you will execute gross examinations, dictation, and specimen sectioning. Your responsibilities will also include reviewing transcribed descriptions in the Laboratory Information System and coordinating specimen storage. Ensure the highest standards of patient care and laboratory efficiency while teaching new staff and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct gross examinations of complex surgical specimens
• Photograph and document specimens accurately
• Assist in post-mortem examinations under supervision
• Teach and present information to new staff and residents
• Interact with surgical services regarding specimen submissions
Requirements:
• Master of Clinical Science in Pathology Assistance
• Certification from Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists’ Assistants
• Minimum 3 years of experience in gross dissection
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to ongoing education and training
