Freelance Data Center Technician

Support critical infrastructure as a Freelance Data Center Technician in Barrie, Canada. This on-site role emphasizes your expertise in hardware and cabling for premier data facilities.

We are in search of an experienced technician to work on a project or contract basis at our data center. You’ll perform hardware installations, manage structured cabling, and troubleshoot issues effectively. Your contributions will be pivotal in ensuring seamless operations and communications while documenting processes thoroughly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct hardware installations and interface management

• Execute structured cabling for both copper and fiber optic

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware connectivity issues

• Document all tasks with accurate notes and photographs

• Coordinate efforts with remote NOC and client teams

Requirements:

• 2+ years of data center or related IT experience

• Proficient in cabling technologies (Cat5e/6/6a, fiber)

• Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro)

• Must lift 50+ lbs and work in raised floor settings

• Strong communication skills in English
