Barrie STEM Hub Computer Lab Technician

Support innovative learning at Lakehead University's Barrie STEM Hub as a Computer Lab Technician. Deliver hands-on instructional support and manage lab infrastructure.

As part of the Computer Science Department, you will assist undergraduate students and faculty in a variety of computing environments. This role focuses on enhancing lab operations, optimizing high-performance computing setups, and developing educational materials. Collaborating with teaching staff, you will ensure an effective learning context for technology-focused studies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with programming tools and lab exercises

• Deliver engaging tutorials and lab sessions

• Maintain lab setups and resource materials

• Optimize HPC configurations and job scheduling

• Provide training and technical support for users

Requirements:

• HBSc in Computer Science, MSc preferred

• Experience with Linux systems and HPC environments

• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration

• Familiarity with programming and software troubleshooting

• Knowledge of cybersecurity and lab management practices
