Position: Full-Time ASL English Interpreter Midland

Join the Simcoe County District School Board as a Full-Time American Sign Language (ASL) - English Interpreter in Midland. Provide vital interpreting services for a specific student throughout the school year.

In this position, you will work full-time (1.0 FTE), averaging 35 hours weekly, contributing to classroom success by interpreting educational content. Collaborating with educators and staff, you will enhance communication and understanding of Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. Ideal candidates possess a degree in ASL interpretation and relevant experience in educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpreting services in classrooms and educational programs

• Collaborate with teachers, students, and staff for effective communication

• Review educational materials for accurate interpretation

• Assist with student conferencing and related duties

• Attend meetings outside normal working hours as required

Requirements:

• Honours Bachelor of Interpreting Degree or ASL/English Diploma

• Minimum six months of relevant work experience

• Fluency in American Sign Language

• Proof of ASL skill level if not graduated from an Interpreter Program

• Acceptable assessment documentation required
