ASL-English Interpreter at Simcoe District

Location: Midland

Become an American Sign Language - English Interpreter with the Simcoe County District School Board. This temporary position offers full-time hours in Midland, combining communication skills and educational support.

The Simcoe County District School Board is looking for qualified candidates to serve as ASL-English Interpreters for students. Successful applicants will interpret educational content in various settings. You must have an Honours Bachelor of Interpreting Degree or diploma in ASL/English Interpretation, plus fluency in ASL and English.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide ASL interpretation in classrooms and assemblies

• Collaborate with educators and staff to support students

• Maintain a full range of educational materials for interpretation

• Attend meetings and conferences as required

• Perform related duties assigned by the Principal

Requirements:

• Honours degree or diploma in ASL/English Interpretation

• Minimum six months of related work experience

• Proof of ASL skill level required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of cultural issues related to the Deaf community
