ASL - English Interpreter

Position: Full-Time ASL - English Interpreter Role
Location: Midland

Elevate your interpreting skills at the Simcoe County District School Board as a Full-Time American Sign Language (ASL) - English Interpreter. Deliver important interpreting services for a specific student while working across various educational settings.

This engaging position offers 35 hours per week during the school year at Bayview PS, Midland. Applicants must have a minimum of six months related experience and an Honours Bachelor of Interpreting Degree or a Diploma in American Sign Language/English Interpretation. Strong skills in ASL, organizational abilities, and collaboration with staff are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation in various educational settings

• Collaborate with teachers, students, and interpreters

• Attend outside meetings as needed

• Maintain full range of educational materials

• Develop student information and tools as instructed

Requirements:

• Degree in ASL/English Interpretation

• Six months of related experience

• Fluency in American Sign Language

• Recent ASL skill level assessment required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
