Summary:

The Director of Supply Chain and Logistics will lead the transformation efforts to build a scalable, disciplined, and data-driven supply chain and logistics function for Bradford Greenhouses. This strategic, hands-on role will design the future-state supply chain model, create practical tools and processes, train teams, resolve daily execution issues, and establish the accountability needed for long-term success. Working in a seasonal, perishable-product environment, the role will focus on forecast accuracy, inventory visibility, space planning, product flow, customer fill rates, and logistics execution to improve sales, margin, waste, labour efficiency, and cash flow.

This role will champion inter-dependent data-driven decision making, digital transformation, continuous improvement while building and developing a high performing supply chain team capable of supporting both current and future business needs and growth.

Job Duties:

1. Supply Chain Strategy & Operating Tools and Practices:
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies across procurement, inventory, warehousing, transportation, demand planning, scheduling, purchasing, and material staging.
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, meeting cadence, governance, and reporting tools to monitor performance and drive improvement.
  • Lead monthly planning to align demand, supply, inventory, service levels, financial goals, and working capital across corporate and operational priorities.
2. Forecasting & Demand Planning:
  • Partner with wholesale, retail, growing operations, and finance to develop data-driven demand forecasts and sales projections.
  • Use forecasting tools, analytics, historical data, and market intelligence to improve accuracy, inventory levels, service, and cash flow.
3. Procurement and Strategic Sourcing:
  • Oversee demand, supply, capacity, production, inventory planning, and procurement of inputs, materials, and goods.
  • Build strategic supplier relationships and improve visibility into supply availability and inventory.
  • Improve purchasing processes, forecast accuracy, service performance, inventory turns, working capital, and operational efficiency.
4. Inventory Optimization:
  • Optimize inventory levels while balancing service, carrying costs, cash flow, open-to-buy, and stockout risk.
  • Implement planning techniques such as safety stock, reorder points, and replenishment strategies.
  • Use visibility tools to reduce obsolescence and working capital.
5. Logistics and Distribution:
  • Lead transportation, warehousing, shipping/receiving, and distribution to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.
  • Optimize freight spend, throughput, and customer service performance.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective fulfillment processes.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans for supplier, geopolitical, weather, and other external disruptions.
7. System Transformation and Tools:
  • Evaluate and implement planning, ERP, analytics, and dashboard tools to improve visibility, agility, and decision-making.
  • Promote AI-enabled forecasting and predictive decision-support capabilities.
8. Data analysis and Insights:
  • Use analytics to improve forecasting, demand planning, inventory management, and resource allocation.
  • Build scenario models and risk assessments, using AI where appropriate to enhance predictive analytics.
9. Organizational Development & Continuous Improvement:
  • Build a high-performing supply chain team with clear roles, accountability, and development paths.
  • Drive continuous improvement, process optimization, operational excellence, and supply chain improvement projects.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including at least five years in leadership; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt, SCMP, APICS, or CSCP certification is an asset.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and achieve supply chain objectives.
  • Results-oriented leader with strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in supply chain software and tools.
  • Understanding of AI applications in supply chain planning, forecasting, predictive analytics, and optimization.
