Responsible for the coordination of general building and property maintenance under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance and repair of facility infrastructure and building systems such as fire alarm, HVAC, emergency power, safety and security, resident equipment, landscaping, and snow removal. Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and establishment of effective and efficient programs of preventative maintenance, repair, and oversight of contracted services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not listed in order of priority)
1. Monitor the Service Request System (SRS) for reactive maintenance requests and repair needs. Assess, prioritize, and complete maintenance work in a timely and efficient manner. Escalate and report significant issues, safety concerns, or resource requirements to the Supervisor, Environmental Services and/or Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities as appropriate.
2. Conduct inspections of the grounds, the facility, and all equipment, ensuring that all preventative maintenance and repair are completed as planned. Responsible for ensuring accurate inspection and maintenance records are maintained in compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
3. Assist with the coordination, scheduling, and administration of service contracts and planned preventive maintenance activities for facility infrastructure and equipment, including but not limited to fire alarm, sprinkler, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, waste management, pest control, resident equipment, landscaping, and snow removal services.
4. Support the monitoring of contractor performance and service schedules to help ensure regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, asset reliability, and the safe operation of the Home.
5. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform minor repairs and maintenance involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, outdoor equipment, and HVAC systems.
6. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform minor repairs to resident systems and equipment including nurse-call, wander guard, beds, lifts, spa tubs, scales, and sterilizers.
7. Coordinate and perform maintenance of facility grounds including parking areas, walkways landscaping, grass cutting, and snow removal.
8. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure adequate stock levels of departmental tools, equipment, materials, and maintenance supplies.
9. Purchase materials, supplies, services, and equipment under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities.
10. Utilize facility Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor and maintain building temperatures ensuring optimal building performance. Identify, investigate, and report issues.
11. Participate in the Home’s disaster, fire, and emergency planning, coordination, training, and implementation activities. This includes supporting and executing monthly fire (Code Red) drills and participating in other facility-related emergency response procedures (e.g., Code Grey, Code Orange).
12. Communicate and report any concerns to the Supervisor, Environmental Services and Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities, including staff adherence to Health & Safety policies and procedures, safe handling of materials, safe operation of equipment, and compliance with all applicable legislation.
13. Complete inspections and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Long Term Care Homes Act, Retirement Homes Act, Residential Tenancies Act and their associated regulations in performing duties in a safe manner and…
