Rock Tools Technician at Sandvik is an entry-level position located in Rainy River, ON. The role supports rock tools contracts by providing guidance on correct tool usage, managing inventory, and distributing products. This is a "no experience necessary" role that offers a pathway into the mining industry.
What You Will Be Doing- Manage rock tools inventory and track new issues, discards, and losses.
- Repair and maintain rock tools to defined specifications.
- Deliver rock tools products to customers.
- Use the Rock Tools Management System to monitor and report on tool performance.
- Troubleshoot and provide technical recommendations and improvements to the Supervisor and Sandvik Sales and Service Representatives.
- Report occurrences that may indicate improper usage or selection by operators.
- Complete accurate time records, technical reports, and failure reports.
- Build relationships with the rock tools team and internal/external customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform daily and weekly stock counts.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Comply with safety policies and applicable regulations or requirements.
- Identify and report unsafe work habits, incidents, or near misses; perform risk assessments before tasks.
- Maintain hand tools and equipment for safe operation.
- Maintain an orderly work area and meet housekeeping requirements.
- Attend environmental, health, and safety related trainings.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task.
- Completion of Secondary School (High school).
- Knowledge or experience with industry-specific equipment (mining or construction) is an asset.
- Previous knowledge or experience with Sandvik products is an asset.
- Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
- Detail-oriented.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible, self-motivated with demonstrated initiative.
- Ability to work with Outlook and Microsoft Office.
- Full G valid driver’s license in good standing is required.
- Common Core consideration as an asset.
