At Glass Doctor Barrie, we take pride in delivering high-quality glass solutions to our residential and commercial customers. Our team is growing, and we are seeking a dedicated Glass Shop Technician to join our fast-paced and safety-focused shop workplace.
About the RoleAs a Glass Shop Technician, you will play a vital role in our daily operations by fabricating insulated glass units (IGUs), cutting and polishing glass, and preparing products for installation. You will work closely with the Owner and Operations Manager to ensure production targets are met while maintaining our standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Build insulated glass units (IGUs) according to work orders and quality standards
- Cut, size, and polish glass using shop tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Perform equipment checks and adhere to safety protocols
- Handle, store, and dispose of glass materials properly
- Assist with unloading and organizing incoming materials
- Communicate proactively with the Shop Lead or Owner regarding inventory or equipment needs
- Perform other duties as assigned, including cross‑training in related areas
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in glass fabrication, glazing, or manufacturing is an asset
- Comfortable using glass cutting and polishing equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Physically capable of lifting and handling glass in accordance with safety guidelines
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Measurements must be super accurate to a fraction of an inch to ensure the glass fits the first time
- Attention to safety and quality; we treat glass breakages as emergencies
- Ability to be scheduled and attend work consistently; calling off at the last minute negatively impacts customers and the team
- Competitive hourly wage and pay range of $22.00 to $30.00, depending on experience
