Reports To:
Manufacturing Team Leader
Shift: 7:00 a.m.
- 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
Wage: $23.25/hr.
Job Purpose
To safely finish and/or assemble required quantity and quality of product by painting, metal finishing, or silk screening in a timely and efficient manner, and in accordance with plant and company specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret work instructions, engineering criteria and/or prints of assemblies.
Set‑up and operate powered and manual equipment to OHSA/Company safety standards.
Complete work orders, filling in the time spent and the quantity of parts completed.
Fill out daily reporting sheets.
Painting: spray a wide variety of products while maintaining compliance with quality standards.
Painting: prepare and clean surfaces prior to painting; check paint viscosity and film thickness; fill paint pressure pots; dispense paint and paint thinner as required.
Metal finishing: grind, sand and polish metal products using hand tools and power tools to ensure a smooth finish.
Metal finishing: deburr, buff or polish materials to QA approved specifications.
Silk screening: screen a variety of products while maintaining compliance with quality and ISO standards.
Silk screening: match raw material to work order; peel protective coating from parts, checking for scratches, dents or malformations according to Company quality standards.
Silk screening: mix ink products for dispensing; set up silk screen table with correct template and screen; run oven at correct temperatures for screening parts.
Silk screening: complete first offs and check quality in accordance with Company quality standards.
Maintain WHMIS labels – ensuring they are readable.
Dispose of chemicals safely and in accordance with company standards.
Perform regular maintenance, cleaning and simple troubleshooting of spray or finishing equipment; replace booth filters according to PM schedule.
Rotate between paint booth, finishing station and assembly positions as necessary.
Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to Manufacturing Supervisor or team lead.
Red tag scrap and record.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S principles; maintain all equipment requiring maintenance according to guidelines and procedures.
Continue to grow Lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement to product and processes.
Education & Experience
High School or GED, or 2-5 years relevant manufacturing experience.
Minimum 1 year previous spray paint or silk screening experience required, or 1 year metal finishing experience.
Basic computer skills an asset.
Able to work from verbal and/or written instructions with minimal supervision.
Good hand-eye coordination required.
Able to work in a fast-paced sheet metal environment.
Eye for detail; high level of concentration and focus required.
Good dexterity and some lifting (up to 40 pounds).
Must be clean shaven daily to wear respirator.
