Position: FIRST OPERATOR CN
Description

Essential Functions:

Lead and coordinate daily production activities on the assigned line to ensure targets for safety, quality, and output are achieved

Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production equipment to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime

Ensure all products meet quality specifications, including inspection of glass for defects and adherence to customer requirements

Provide direction and support to team members (e.g., truckers, operators) to ensure efficient workflow and proper job coverage

Complete and verify all required production documentation, reports, and system entries accurately and on time

Respond to production issues in real time, including equipment faults, quality concerns, and staffing gaps

Ensure proper line setup, changeovers, and start‑ups are completed according to standard operating procedures

Promote and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices on shift

Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and other departments to resolve issues and support operations

Ability to build and maintain strong and respectful partnerships with all levels of the organization

Support training and onboarding of new employees and provide guidance to less experienced team members

Demonstrates dependable attendance and willingness to support overtime requirements

Positive attitude and consistent presence on the shop floor

Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Previous manufacturing or production experience, preferably in a glass or automotive environment

Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate team activities in a fast‑paced setting

Strong understanding of quality standards, safety requirements, and production processes

Ability to read and complete production documentation and follow detailed work instructions

Other Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12‑hour shifts)

Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as required

Comfortable working in a hot, industrial manufacturing environment

Ability to work continental shifts (days/nights, weekends as required)

Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification

Demonstrates computer proficiency and technical aptitude
