Responsibilities
The Toolroom Tech performs a range of technical tasks related to the machining, servicing, and maintenance of injection molds and tool room equipment. Responsibilities include insert changes in molds; setting up and operating powered and non-powered equipment; grinding, welding, lubricating and polishing, operating computers; taking precise measurements; driving tow motors and vehicles;
The Toolroom Tech also conducts water pressure testing and performs mathematical calculations using technical instruments such as caliper micrometers and height gauges. The role requires the ability to design and build complex fixtures and to assess and troubleshoot technical problems.
To perform these duties, the Toolroom Tech must have knowledge of machining, mold making, hydraulics, electrical, welding, WHMIS, and applicable safety regulations. Computer knowledge is required. This knowledge must include both theoretical understanding and practical application in order to effectively carry out the work.
Highly adaptable to changing priorities in dynamic, fast‑paced manufacturing environments.
Heavy lifting is required.
Qualifications- CNC programming is an asset
- Overhead crane is an asset
- Tow motor experience is an asset
- Mould maker, Tool and Die and/or Machinist certification is an asset
- Leadership qualities such as sound decision making, effective problem solving and team building techniques.
- Willingness to work shifts, on call, strong communication skills, eagerness to learn new skills and upgrade with new technology is a must.
