The Senior Production Manager is accountable for all production areas at the manufacturing site, providing strong leadership and decision-making skills, project management skills, and technical knowledge. The Senior Production Manager is accountable for leading the Production teams to ensure ongoing compliance to producing quality products consistently while maintaining conformance to company and regulatory agencies' expectations and requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the production team in the execution of the company’s business goals, including launching new products and processes, identifying and implementing large-scale automation initiatives and supporting the growth and development of the next level of production leaders.
This role reports to the Vice-President, Operations. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, forward- thinking and in search of a challenge to take their career to the next level.
This position is based out of the Stayner, ON manufacturing facility.
What you’ll be doing :- Manage, coach, mentor and support a diverse group of over 300 employees, including direct labour, team leaders and supervisor on two shifts, in a complex and ever-changing cannabis market
- Act as a change agent on the production floor, leading initiatives to achieve operational excellence across each shift
- Ensure daily adherence to production schedules while maintaining compliance with quality, regulatory, and internal control requirements, recommending improvements to control structures as needed
- Drive implementation of new processes/capabilities in support of strategic growth plans and operational efficiency targets
- Collaborate with materials, quality, scheduling, maintenance and engineering to identify opportunities for improvement with emphasis on cost control, cycle time and down time reduction.
- Support the annual business planning cycle, identifying key priorities and projects for the production team
- Identify, implement and track critical KPIs to support problem solving and decision making within the production department
- Responsible for managing and developing supervisors and team leaders in production, supporting team member development and future leader identification and maturation for long-term success
- Support the creation and implementation of a robust and effective training program on the production floor, with the objective of improving new hire retention and reducing turnover
- Collaborate with Quality and Compliance to streamline Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions to improve training consistency and eliminate duplication and non-value-added work.
