Job Summary & Requirements
The Hudson Regional Cancer Program is one of fourteen Regional Cancer Programs in Ontario.
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for providing high-quality patient care in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and standards of care of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and all relevant legislation.
This position is within the Cancer and Palliative Care Inpatient Unit of the Hudson Regional Cancer Program at RVH.
Education- Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS
- CMH de Souza course preferred
- Post graduate education, Oncology Nursing (RPN) Course(s) essential
- Post graduate education, Palliative Nursing (RPN) Course(s) preferred
- Post graduate education, Patient Assessment essential
- Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of profession
- CANO/ONS membership preferred
- Functions independently within scope of practice
- One year current progressive experience in acute care nursing
- Two years current progressive experience in Oncology Nursing preferred
- Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) experience as asset
- Sound problem solving, communication (oral and written), conflict resolution and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Computer literacy in current software applications
- Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others
- Demonstrated commitment to the concepts of Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills to deal with demanding situations and fluctuating workloads
- Demonstrates an interest in maintaining a high standard of patient care
- Ability to learn about, from and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong Interprofessional model of care
- Willing to work within all HRCP departments including inpatient, outpatient clinics and on days, weekends, evenings and nights.
