Job Summary

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) serves the community of Simcoe County and provides highly specialized services including Stroke, Cardiac, Oncology, Neonatal Intensive Care, Adult & Youth Mental Health, and is a Level III Trauma Centre. RVH also provides emergency care services that see approximately 90,000 unique patient visits per year.

As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team—including physicians, registered practical nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, geriatric registered nurses, patient care assistants, and phlebotomists—to assess adult and pediatric patients requiring emergency care. You will ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, and provide quality patient care in accordance with RVH policies, the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and all relevant legislation.

• Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario with competence within defined limitations and standards.
• One (1) year experience in emergency or acute medical nursing.
• Coronary Care Level 1 required.
• Demonstrated competency in arrhythmia interpretation.
• Current BCLS and ACLS courses; TNCC and PALS/ENPC courses preferred.
• Completion of ENCC or an emergency nursing certificate is considered an asset.
• Participation in RNAO/ENAO/ENA preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development of self and others.
• Demonstrated commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service concepts.

• Ability to function independently within the scope of practice.
• Sound problem‑solving, communication, conflict‑resolution, and critical decision‑making skills.
• Strong knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of the profession.
• Ability to learn from and with other team members to foster a strong interprofessional model of care.
• Capacity to meet the physical and emotional demands of the position, including lifting and moving patients.
• Effective listening, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Commitment to patient‑focused and family‑centered care and to excellent customer service.
• Ability to remain calm and function with a team approach during stressful and crisis situations.
• Utilizes the Emergency Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Follows health and safety guidelines to provide a safe and supportive environment for all patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers.
