THE OPPORTUNITYThe Registered Practical Nurse provides a pivotal role within the patient care team and provides care in situations in which the patient's condition is stable and the patient care outcomes are predictable. Within the scope of practice, the Registered Practical Nurse promotes health, assesses and provides care and treatment by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to attain or maintain optimal function for the patient.
QUALIFICATIONS& EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:
- Graduate of a recognized Registered Practical Nursing Program
- Registered Practical Nurse in good standing
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
- Competent with current basic RPN scope of practice (Medication Administration, I.V. infusion, etc.)
- Current experience in assisting with endoscopy procedures
- Coronary Care course (college level) – or completion within six months of hire
- Patient Assessment course completion
- Current ACLScertification
- 2 years’ recent experience in acute care hospital ambulatory care clinic setting
- Demonstrated commitment to professional and personal growth
- Meditech Expanse knowledge considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with all patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
- Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development
- Willingness to participate in process improvement
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environment
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
- Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
- Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
- As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

- Hourly rate of pay $38.26 to $39.02, with an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation to start

Part Time. Monday through Friday. Must be available to work 8 and 12 hour day shifts. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.
