Summary of Position:

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Community Pediatrics provides compassionate, family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in home, school, and community settings. Working independently and collaboratively with families, caregivers, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams, the RPN delivers high-quality care that supports the health, safety, development, and overall well-being of pediatric clients. The RPN assesses patient needs, implements care plans, administers treatments, monitors health status, and provides education and support to families while promoting positive health outcomes and enhancing quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric clients in community and home care settings.
  • Perform health assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.
  • Administer medications, enteral feeds, and treatments within the RPN scope of practice.
  • Support children with chronic illnesses, complex medical needs, developmental disabilities, and post-acute care requirements.
  • Educate families and caregivers on care plans, medication administration, medical equipment, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, schools, and community partners to coordinate patient care.
