THE OPPORTUNITYThe Registered Practical Nurse in the Dialysis Unit, in collaboration with the Registered Nurse, is responsible for the comprehensive, coordinated, and individualized care of patients with chronic kidney disease requiring hemodialysis treatments. The Registered Practical Nurse is an active member of the multidisciplinary team that provides care to the patient and support to their family. The satellite unit of Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital’s regional dialysis program provides dialysis treatment and support to patients receiving hemodialysis who reside in the North Simcoe area.
The satellite unit is a nine-station dialysis unit at 611 Prospect Boulevard.
- Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with College of Nurses
- Minimum of one (1) year of current hemodialysis experience required
- Minimum of one (1) year of medical/surgical experience within the past five (5) years; working at full scope
- Successful completion of a Physical Assessment Course, Medication Administration course, and Aseptic Principles certificate required (exempt if newly graduated within the past four (4) years)
- Essential duties require ability to lift and move patients, pushing, pulling, bending & stooping
- Demonstrated ability to function efficiently and effectively as a team member
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
- Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
- As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

- Hourly rate of pay is $38.26 to $39.02, with an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation to start.

Permanent Casual. Mainly call in and vacation relief. Required to provide availability for a minimum of six (6) shifts per month. Shifts include days, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts would include days, evenings, and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.
