The Township of Springwater is recruiting summer students for its Recreation, Parks and Facilities Department. The successful candidate will assist with maintenance and operations of township facilities and parks.

• Assist staff with day‑to‑day maintenance of township facilities and parks including sports fields, turf maintenance, open spaces and playgrounds.
• Perform ground maintenance tasks such as mowing grass, trimming, planting flowers and caring for splash pads.
• Safely operate, maintain and care for assigned tools, equipment and vehicles such as tractors, riding mowers, utility vehicles, pickup trucks, string trimmers, roto tillers, blowers and hand tools.
• Perform general labour duties including hand shoveling and raking.
• Pick up garbage, debris and litter from parks, parking lots, etc.
• Communicate courteously with the public and, when necessary, refer inquiries to full‑time staff.
• Perform all duties in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and township policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must provide confirmation of post‑secondary full‑time student status in the current academic year or acceptance into full‑time studies in September 2026.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with staff and the public courteously.
• Any related experience in sports field, turf maintenance or parks operations is an asset.
• Ability and willingness to work in varying climate conditions.
• Willingness to work a 40‑hour week, including shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as required.
• Valid, unrestricted Ontario Driver’s Licence Class G2 required (Class G preferred) and a safe driving record.
• Must abide by Ontario Health & Safety Legislation and township health and safety policies.
• Must provide own CSA‑approved safety boots.

The rate of pay is $20.71 per hour (2025 rate) plus vacation pay and statutory holidays as per the Employment Standards Act.

This position will work 40 hours per week, including afternoons and weekends. Successful incumbents must be available exclusively from May to Labour Day.

Position Status: Four (4) open, existing summer student positions.
