Student externs will work closely with a supervising veterinarian to develop clinical and communication skills. The externship typically lasts between two and eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules, and is reserved for students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.
Responsibilities Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Create treatment plans, order diagnostics, and provide dentistry services.
Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures as appropriate.
Manage the medical care of patients and support client interactions.
Communicate effectively with the medical team, support staff, and client base.
Eligibility & Qualifications Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education, in their final clinical year, are eligible to apply for this externship.
Stipend Eligible students receive a travel and living expense stipend. Please refer to the stipend program documentation for current amounts.
