The Opportunity
As a member of the FSQA team, the FSQA Specialist is accountable for the execution of the HACCP system, Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs. The FSQA Specialist is a key member of the facility management teams and is responsible for driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced and demanding environment. Additionally, the FSQA Specialist will establish and maintain positive relationships with regulatory bodies.
Base Salary: $59,000 – $87,000 CAD base pay annually. The above base salary reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job‑related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part‑time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours.
Snapshot of a Day‑in‑the‑Life- Ensures that the HACCP system (Pre‑requisite and HACCP plans) is up to date as per current SFCR and other applicable legislative requirements.
- Provides technical (HACCP system, BRC standard and Food Safety) guidance to production staff.
- Maintain the HACCP and pre‑requisite programs by auditing, monitoring, scheduling, verifying and validating results.
- Execute various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our process and products based on facts and data.
- Ensure that critical food safety and quality data is tracked and trended for process understanding and continuous improvement purposes.
- Execute Hold and Release Program in SAP.
- Point of contact for CFIA. Respond to and ensure completion of SIP tasks.
- Assist and accompany CFIA inspectors during performance of their SIP tasks.
- Assist with investigation of complaints, develop, and submit responses for customer complaints and consumer.
- Assist with Non‑Compliance Reports (Deviations) and in‑house disposition of materials placed On Hold including completing Risk Assessments to determine product disposition.
- Assist with maintaining and updating, BRC and business unit Food Safety and Quality programs and/or SOPs.
- Assisting with follow up and issue any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant process or resulting from customer complaints or audits.
- Support and lead internal and external audits (BRC, audits requested by customers, CFIA, etc.).
- Assists with internal audits to comply with pre‑requisites bullets, HACCP plans, BRC and customer requirements.
- Support new product launches by ensuring new hazards are not introduced to the plant and the HACCP plan is updated in a timely manner.
- Verification of the monitors and paperwork.
- Ability to effectively train, coach and motivate employees.
- Managing QMS programs via SAP and addressing deviations with relevant departments.

- Actively participate in facility leadership meetings and lead food safety meetings.
- Pro‑active on the processing floor to implement corrective action, work cordial to resolve any issues.
- Provide coverage for QA Supervisor, QA technician or other roles as required.
- Foster and maintain a positive employee relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, concerns are dealt with in a timely manner, and employees are communicated with in an open manner.
- Responsible for adherence to all policies and procedures for Quality Assurance, Food Safety and customer specifications on a day‑to‑day basis.

- Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience.
- 3‑5 years’ experience in the Food industry preferred.
- Solid understanding and experience with HACCP System and implementation.
- Solid understanding of SFCR requirements.
- Understanding of Sanitation, CCP’s and GMP’s.
