Job Description

Advanced level DIY sales position with expert knowledge of DIY business, store operations, automotive systems, and parts.

Responsible for advanced automotive problem resolution, including identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. Source parts from multiple outlets (special order, FDO, second source, etc.) and possess in‑depth knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class customer service and DIY issue resolution.
  • Deliver GAS3 selling experience for all DIY customers via walk‑in, online orders, and phone.
  • Achieve personal/store sales goals and service objectives.
  • Manage DIY services such as testing, battery installation, and wiper installs.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance.
  • Key holder duties (task assignment, safety, open/close).
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assist in store inventory processes (POGs, truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, back‑stock).
  • Back up professional services.
  • Maintain store cleanliness (floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot).

Essential

Job Skills Necessary for Success as a Retail Parts Pro
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic ability (engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, exhaust).
  • Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals; write simple correspondence.
  • Understand and execute instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Successfully complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
  • Use basic math accurately (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Use Microsoft Office software effectively (Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work various days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Prior Experience that Sets a Retail Parts Pro up for Success
  • 3–5 years of prior automotive parts experience.
  • Proven sales ability with customer transaction experience.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • ASE certification preferred but not required.
Physical Demands

The role requires walking or standing, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs). It also requires close, distance, color, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Primarily indoor work with occasional outdoor exposure to weather. Tasks include handling batteries, wiper blades, mechanical parts, high or precarious areas, chemicals, electrical components, explosives, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.

Compensation Range

17.95 CAD to 21.55 CAD per hour for new team members, adjusted by geographic location, experience, education, leadership, skills, and shift differential.
