New Home Warranty and Customer Service Technician
Employment Type: Full Time (44 hours per week), Monday to Friday, On Site
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Probationary Period: 3 months
About the Role:
As a Warranty and Customer Service Technician, you will uphold the Red Berry Homes standard for customer service by supporting new homeowners through the post-purchase service process. This role provides technical and warranty advice to the homeowners and the trades to ensure that new homeowners receive prompt, complete and accurate service upon occupancy of their new home.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections for every new homeowner.
- Review all Tarion warranty lists – Initial, 30 day, 1 year and 2 year forms – with new homeowners, explaining which items are warrantable and which are not.
- Conduct visual inspections of warranty issues.
- Coordinate and schedule service calls with vendors to address warrantable homeowner service requests.
- Perform hands on repairs as required.
- Track all outstanding warranty lists and follow up on incomplete work and incidentals.
- Ensure service orders are signed as completed (by homeowners and/or vendors as needed).
- Address pre-occupancy & post possession homeowner concerns.
- Perform additional ad-hoc tasks as required.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of residential construction related experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Tarion Warranty & Construction Performance Guidelines for new residential homes.
- Superior communication in English (writing and oral).
- A respectful and professional approach to customer service, upholding Red Berry Homes values in every interaction with homeowners.
- Excellent time management, organization and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge, understanding and capability to perform all types of repairs including, but not limited to: carpenter framework, drywall, taping, painting, trim carpentry, tiling, caulking, hardwood floors, etc.
- Excellent computer skills, including strong knowledge in operating Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), as well as proficient in using email to communicate.
- A valid driver’s license, your own vehicle, a working cell phone and provide your own tools.
- Able to be contacted after hours, as required.
- This is a non-unionized position that does not come with any additional benefits or allowances.
- This position requires a 3-month probationary period.
