Event Coordinator – CLOSED

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Event Coordinator is responsible for:

• Planning and coordinating local events with attention to financial and time constraints
• Sourcing sponsor ships, fundraising, and managing cash flow
• Overseeing logistics and coordinating with the Town of Midland
• Securing talent and vendors, then maintaining consistent communication and relationships
• Creating itineraries and managing scheduling
• Distributing promotional materials, including tickets for certain events
• Communicating and coordinating with the BIA membership
• Improving the overall visitor experience of the downtown area

• Experience/post-secondary education in tourism, event planning, or project management
• Creative, adaptable, detail-oriented, hard-working, organized and dependable
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Knowledge/experience using newsletter software, G‑Suite, Canva, social‑media platforms
• Available to work during planned events or some weekends (flexible schedule)
• Must be able to work effectively without any supervision
• Must be able to work full-time on-site at 208 King Street in Midland, Ontario and around the downtown Midland area

This role is part of the 2025 Canada Summer Jobs program for individuals aged 15-30. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be between 15-30 years of age at the start of the position
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred
• Have a valid SIN

International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.

Downtown Midland is an association that acts on behalf of its member merchants, restaurants, businesses and landowners, along with the Town of Midland, to ensure that downtown Midland is a safe, vibrant, thriving and prosperous community in the Heart of Georgian Bay. We do this by carrying out physical improvements and promoting economic development in downtown Midland, from beautification to community events and activations like our annual Mini Monster March and Midland Tree Lighting Ceremony on King Street.
