Make a difference with Wasauksing First Nation as a Shelter Intake Worker on the night shift, providing crucial support to individuals experiencing crisis. Help clients navigate their immediate needs at the emergency shelter.
In this role, you'll be a key player under the supervision of the Housing Manager, fostering a safe and supportive environment for shelter guests. You will conduct assessments, provide crisis counseling, and help connect clients with necessary services. Building rapport and maintaining confidentiality are essential to your success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interview clients to evaluate their needs upon intake
• Assist clients with crisis counseling services
• Keep records of intake and referrals accurately
• Maintain a respectful and secure shelter environment
• Collaborate with community resources for support
Requirements:
• Degree in social work or a related field preferred
• 2-3 years of experience in social services required
• Excellent listening and conflict resolution skills
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights
• Vulnerable sector check mandatory
