Head Instructor - Thornton Summer Camp

Withrow Ball Hockey Academy is the largest ball hockey summer camp in Canada! Entering its 11th year of operations, the Academy offers day camp programs to children ages 5-13 in Toronto, St. Catharines and Simcoe County. The Academy is committed to developing campers' ball hockey skills, while also building confidence, leadership and character. Our summer camp involves a mix of fun, competition, and multi-sport play, delivering a memorable experience for young athletes of all skill levels.

The Head Instructor - Thornton Summer Camp will oversee daily camp activities, ensuring engaging and high-quality ball hockey drills for all campers. Responsibilities include planning and leading skill development sessions, coaching campers in both individual and team settings, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere. The Head Instructor will also supervise and mentor junior instructors, maintain equipment, and ensure all safety protocols and guidelines are followed.

This is a 2 week contract position located at Thornton Community Centre, just west of Innisfil, Ontario. There is an opportunity for more work throughout the spring as well if the successful candidate is interested.

• Strong knowledge and expertise in ball hockey, with experience in coaching or instructing youth programs preferred
• Natural leadership and team management skills, including the ability to supervise and guide junior instructors
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with campers, parents, and team members
• Organizational and planning abilities to design and execute daily plans
• Background in child development, sports education, or a related field is an asset
• First Aid and CPR certification is required, and will be paid for by WBHA if you do not have it already
• A commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants
• A criminal background check will be completed for any successful candidates
• Virtual and on site training will be provided to familiarize you with our organization
• There will be 1 mandatory on-site training day in Toronto, for which you will be compensated and reimbursed for travel expenses
• Pay will be competitive and commensurate with experience
