The City of Barrie seeks a Driver for its Operations Department, focused on infrastructure upkeep. This role includes operating vehicles, performing repairs, and ensuring safe passage for citizens and visitors. With a commitment to excellence in municipal services, this position provides hands-on involvement in road maintenance and repair activities throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain sidewalks, roadsides, and stairways year-round
• Assist with plowing, sanding, and salting winter surfaces
• Remove debris and litter from public walkways
• Conduct repairs on city infrastructure as needed
• Operate motorized tools safely for maintenance tasks
Requirements:
• Secondary School Diploma required
• Six months of relevant municipal experience
• Valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s Licence with “Z” endorsement
• Knowledge of safety regulations and municipal standards
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks
