Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief

Canada Post is recruiting for dependable, organized individuals to deliver mail on an on-call basis to rural and suburban communities in Huntsville, Ontario.

As an on-call relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, you will enjoy working independently on the open road, operating a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions.

Job Responsibilities

Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner

Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles

Ensure mail is safely secured while in your possession

Process various Canada Post products and services (Change of Address Notification, Damaged Mail, Items Delivered Bill and others)

Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail from customers

Lift and carry items up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg

Operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions

Maintain required automobile liability insurance and notify insurer of vehicle use with Canada Post

Qualifications

Valid permanent provincial driver's licence — Class 5 or G

Satisfactory safe driving record (driver's abstract required)

Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varying conditions

Vehicle Requirements

Minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 litres)

Automatic transmission

Power windows

Metal roof-top with accessory power outlet

Passenger window sill height between 38" and 45" from the ground

Maximum interior width of 56"

Fifth door / hatchback preferred

Valid permanent provincial driver's licence (Class 5 or G), satisfactory safe driving record with driver's abstract, experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in all weather conditions, personal vehicle meeting Canada Post cargo and equipment requirements.
