Fabrication & Welding Lecturer
Fabrication & Welding Lecturer | South West Cumbria | Up to £37,415 | Permanent | 37 hours. Practical, workshop-based role delivering Level 1–3 EAL and Engineering Apprenticeships. Industry professionals encouraged to apply.
TR2 Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading Further Education provider in South West Cumbria to recruit an experienced Fabrication & Welding Lecturer to join their Engineering team.
This is a highly practical role, with the majority of delivery taking place within well-equipped engineering workshops, alongside classroom-based theory that underpins welding and fabrication.
The role would suit an experienced Welder, Fabricator, Welding Engineer, Fabrication Engineer or existing Welding & Fabrication Lecturer who is passionate about developing the next generation of skilled engineers.
The Role
You will deliver practical and theoretical training across Level 1 to Level 3 EAL Fabrication & Welding qualifications, as well as supporting Engineering Apprenticeships.
You will use your industry experience to demonstrate techniques, supervise practical activities and help learners develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to succeed within the engineering industry.
The role will involve:
* Delivering practical welding and fabrication training.
* Demonstrating welding and fabrication techniques to learners.
* Supporting learners during hands-on workshop activities.
* Delivering the theory underpinning safe and effective engineering practice.
* Developing learners' practical skills, competence and confidence.
* Assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback.
* Supporting learners working towards EAL qualifications and Engineering Apprenticeships.
* Maintaining high standards of health and safety within the workshop.
* Supporting learner progression and achievement.
* Working collaboratively with colleagues and employers to ensure training remains relevant to industry.
The Ideal Candidate
We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong hands-on welding and fabrication background.
You may currently be working as a:
Welder | Fabricator | Welding Engineer | Fabrication Engineer | Pipe Welder | Pipe Fabricator | Plater | Sheet Metal Worker | Welding Supervisor | Welding Instructor | Welding & Fabrication Lecturer | Engineering Trainer
Relevant experience could include:
* MIG/MAG welding
* TIG welding
* MMA/ARC welding
* Pipe welding and fabrication
* Plate welding
* Structural fabrication
* Sheet metal fabrication
* Cutting, forming and shaping
* Fabrication and assembly
* Reading engineering drawings
* Welding inspection and quality
* Working to engineering specifications
Experience with in shipbuilding, heavy engineering, manufacturing, fabrication or other industrial environments would be particularly valuable.
Qualifications & Experience
A Level 3 qualification in Fabrication & Welding or a closely related discipline would be expected, together with recent relevant industry experience.
Teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
We actively welcome applications from experienced industry professionals who have trained, coached or mentored others and are now looking to move into Further Education.
You may have experience of:
* Training apprentices
* Mentoring junior welders or fabricators
* Supervising workshop teams
* Demonstrating practical welding techniques
* Delivering workplace training
* Coaching new starters
* Assessing practical competence
A teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent, or an A1/TAQA assessor qualification, would be advantageous.
Candidates without a teaching qualification may still be considered where they have strong industry experience and the right aptitude for teaching.
Relocation Support
Relocation support may be available for eligible candidates, potentially providing an allowance of up to 7% of salary, subject to eligibility and approval.
