Barrow-in-Furness – 4 days per week in office, 1 day per week from home Purpose statement
Provides high-quality mechanical engineering support ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Morecambe Hub mechanical systems and equipment.
Accountabilities- As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide mechanical engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Morecambe Hub mechanical systems.
- Support and optimise preventive and predictive maintenance strategies in collaboration with maintenance and operations teams.
- Support asset operations by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (ASME, API, ISO, local regulations, company standards).
- Support inspection, testing, and condition monitoring programs to maintain asset integrity and extend equipment life.
- Provide technical input to capital projects and modifications, including specifications, design reviews, and commissioning activities.
- Review and approve mechanical work scopes, job packs, and method statements for execution.
- As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will oversee contractors and vendors, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to technical and contractual requirements.
- Support turn around, commissioning, and start-up activities as required
- Participate in safety studies and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZIDs, LOPA) and implement safeguards and improvements.
- As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will support change management processes by assessing impacts of operational or design changes.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, datasheets, calculations, and operating/maintenance procedures.
- Act as a Lead investigator using Kelvin Top Set investigation techniques to support business requirements.
- Any other associated duties as reasonably required.
- As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will have proven experience with onshore and offshore oil and gas operations, maintenance, and asset integrity practices.
- Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment used in oil and gas production facilities.
- Materials and corrosion mechanisms.
- As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will have experience with maintenance strategies and reliability engineering.
- Offshore safety case and permit-to-work systems.
- Educated to degree level, ideally MEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer preferable.
